About Us

NLTS (National Literacy & Translation Services) believes in enriching communities and sustaining ethnic identity through the development of the mother-tongue language by engaging with minority people groups in the areas of literature and literacy, thus fostering a greater sense of self-esteem, identity and value. Key to our efforts are partnerships with like-minded organizations throughout the region.

We engage in a range of activities aimed at fostering the preservation and development of minority languages. One of our primary focuses is conducting research and establishing effective mother tongue-based language and literature initiatives.

his involves providing comprehensive training to empower communities to create their own writing systems for their languages. We also offer guidance in developing diverse reading and writing instructional materials in their mother tongues. Additionally, we play a vital role in training indigenous authors and facilitating the production of literature in the vernacular, thus contributing to the enrichment of the linguistic heritage.

We are committed to ensuring that our clients have access to ongoing language-planning support as their needs evolve. This includes assisting in the creation of educational materials, dictionaries, and other resources that are translated into the vernacular.
